A Maintenance Fitter for a permanent position in the Doncaster area.
Immediate start available.
To maintain with the assistance of the Engineering Manager the plant and production equipment at our client's base in Doncaster to maximise efficiency, minimise unplanned stoppages, and ensure a safe working environment.
Work with staff and production supervisors, to improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns, and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes.
Key responsibilities are:
Carry out work orders by the Planned Preventative Maintenance system to ensure all plant is maintained in a safe and efficient condition.
Undertake diagnostic checks in machinery breakdown situations, and complete timely and appropriate remedial work to return the plant to service.
Comply with all company health, Safety and Environmental Policies, and maintain the department in a safe and tidy manner.
Identify any spare part requirements, and initiate their procurement through the requisition process, providing technical specification and manufacturer/supplier details.
Undertake safety improvement work raised by the Hazard Risk reporting procedure, and strive to eliminate risk through plant improvement and better working practices.
Maintain a safe working environment both in the engineering workshop and site-wide, ensuring that relevant Health, Safety and Environmental standards are adhered to.
Diagnosing breakdown problems.
Install and commission to recognised standards any new or relocated equipment within the site.
Able to work unsupervised alone and using own initiative, or as described by a specialist.
To maintain up-to-date knowledge of available equipment, particularly associated with the refractory industry.
Be willing to undertake training to develop knowledge and flexibility.
Maintaining mechanical tools, stores and equipment;
Assist in maintaining the quality control aspects of certification and production program schedules. Interface with and support other departments in developing continual improvement.
Work to planned production priorities and deploy available resources accordingly. Work closely with other functions on site to improve the manufacturing processes and reduce waste.
Record relevant maintenance information in the various forms required by the systems and ensure continual production is maintained at all times.
Liase closely with supervisors, planning and line managers to ensure plans, priorities and problems are communicated effectively.
By example promote Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
Promote all quality issues to ensure the products produced are of high quality and meet all company and external Quality Assurance Systems.
Trade apprenticeship and/or City & Guilds/NVQ 2 Mechanical/Electrical Engineering; HNC standard in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Evacuation training will be given.
Experience of Preventive maintenance systems is desirable.
Safe system procedure training will be given.
Desired Skills and abilities:
Strong communication and organisational and planning skills.
A sound working knowledge of modern pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components.
Working knowledge of modern Combustion Systems.
Working knowledge of MS Office and Preventive maintenance systems.
Ability to work well with others and under schedule constraints.
Provide professional and thorough documentation of work.
Minimum of five years in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
Bench fitting in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
Welding and fabrication skills.
Experience in the use of a planned preventive maintenance system is desirable. An understanding of Quality Systems meeting ISO 9000 series is desirable.
Experience of working with AutoCAD would be an advantage.
A working knowledge of Carbon Refractories, and associated products is desirable.
Salary is £31,592 per annum.
